When you are exiting someones property and there is a gate, CLOSE IT!
I do not care if it was open when you got there, close it anyway. Here is why. If the gate was supposed to be closed but the person before you left it open who will get in trouble for leaving it open when YOU leave. Yep YOU WILL. But if you close the gate you will not get in trouble for closing it. Even if it was supposed to be open someone can re-open it very easily.
Here is my general rule of thumb. You will only ever get in trouble if you leave a gate open that should have been closed. YOU will NEVER get in trouble for closing a gate.
